The Cookie as Art

This is my very favorite picture of my dog Joey.

This is that picture transmuted into a cookie by the amazing Pooky Amsterdam.

In addition to bas relief representational cookie art, of which the Joey cookie is a spectacular example, Amsterdam, seemingly inspired by Hudson River School paintings, creates cookies that capture the stunningly beautiful skies of the Hudson Valley. These cookies, which Amsterdam calls "Inner Beauty Cookies," can now be purchased at The Cascades, The Spotty Dog, and Billy Ledda's Italian Market.

The cookies are handcrafted, and each is unique. Not only are they beautiful, they're delicate and delicious, made from locally sourced organic ingredients. (I must confess I dropped one when setting up the photograph above. It broke, and I had no choice but to eat it. It was delicious!) The skyscape cookies are recommended for self-indulgence but also to share with guests and visitors to Hudson and with friends and relatives who do not have the good fortune to live in the Hudson Valley and must inhabit places where the sky and the light are not as magical as they are here.
